Née à Londres de parents grecs, Marina Sirtis étudie à l’école de musique et d’art dramatique de Guildhall. Après l’obtention de son diplôme, elle devient membre du centre dramatique de Worthing, où elle fait ses débuts dans la pièce Hamlet dans le rôle d’Ophélie. Elle joue ensuite dans des pièces de différentes troupes de théâtre, dont The Hunchback of Notre Dame de Coventry Rep (dans le rôle d’Esmeralda) et The Rocky Horror Picture Show (dans le rôle de Magenta). Elle joue aussi dans de nombreuses séries télévisées britanniques, et décroche des rôles dans des films américains, entre autres The Wicked Lady avec Faye Dunaway, Death Wish III de Charles Bronson et Blind Date avec Bruce Willis. Dans l’espoir de trouver plus de travail aux États-Unis, elle déménage à Los Angeles en 1986, et dès l’année suivante, obtient un rôle dans Star Trek: The Next Generation. Sa dernière apparition dans la peau du personnage Deanna Troi remonte ironiquement à un épisode de Star Trek: Enterprise, où elle partage l’écran avec Jonathan Frakes, sa covedette de longue date. Born in London to Greek parents, Marina Sirtis attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After graduating, she became a member of the Worthing Repertory Theater, where she made her debut as Ophelia in Hamlet. She went on to appear in the productions of several European theatrical companies, including Coventry Rep's The Hunchback of Notre Dame (in the role of Esmeralda) and in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (as Magenta). Sirtis worked extensively in British television, but won roles in several American films, including The Wicked Lady with Faye Dunaway, Death Wish III opposite Charles Bronson, and Blind Date with Bruce Willis. Hoping to find more work in the U.S., she moved to Los Angeles in 1986, winning a role in Star Trek: The Next Generation the following year. Her last appearance as Deanna Troi was, ironically, in an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, where she played opposite her longtime co-star Jonathan Frakes. In recent years, she has played a recurring role in the syndicated comedy Girlfriends and guest-starred on Without a Trace and Three Rivers.
Au premier coup d’œil, l’homme qui dans l’histoire de Star Trek peut se targuer d’être apparu dans la peau du même personnage – Worf – plus souvent que tout autre acteur passe inaperçu, contrairement à d’autres de ses compagnons de jeu de Star Trek: The Next Generation et Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Cette voix, Michael Dorn l’a faite entendre non seulement dans TNG et DS9, mais aussi dans des dizaines de séries animées, de jeux informatisés et d’annonces télévisées. Sans maquillage, on l’a aperçu pour la première fois au grand écran – sans mention au générique – dans Rocky, sous les traits du garde du corps d’Apollo. Quelques années plus tard, il jouait un rôle de premier plan dans CHIPs, puis dans Days of Our Lives. Star Trek: The Next Generation est ensuite arrivé. One would think that the man who bears one of the most unique accomplishments in Star Trek history—he has appeared as the same character in more hours of Star Trek than any other actor—would be instantly recognizable to the public. But thanks to the wigs and prosthetics he was forced to don as Worf, Michael Dorn is more likely to pass through a crowd unnoticed than any of his cast mates from Star Trek: The Next Generation or Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. That is, until he opens his mouth. Dorn’s distinctive baritone voice is always a surefire giveaway, and has been heard not only on TNG and DS9, but also in dozens of animated series, computer games and television commercials. Sans makeup, Dorn made his first onscreen appearance—uncredited—in Rocky, as Apollo Creed’s bodyguard. Within a few years, however, he’d landed a co-starring role in CHIPs, and, subsequently, an ongoing one in Days of Our Lives. Then came TNG. Although he recently appeared on Heroes as the President of the United States, these days his fans are more likely to hear than see him, in animated shows like Cow and Chicken, I Am Weasel, Superman, Justice League or a recent revival of Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century. An avid aviator, Dorn owns an old Air Force trainer jet that he takes to air shows around the country.
