Surtout connu pour son rôle de Robin dans la populaire série télévisée Batman des années 1960, Burt Ward est un chouchou du public à de nombreux salons et événements aux quatre coins de l’Amérique du Nord. Outre sa carrière d’acteur, il a différentes réalisations à son actif, dont des effets spéciaux dans des longs-métrages et des émissions télévisées éducatives pour les tout-petits. Best known for his role as Robin from the 60's smash hit TV show Batman, Burt Ward has become a favorite at trade shows, conventions and various collectible shows across North America. Burt followed his acting success with various business ventures such as feature film graphics effects to early childhood educational television programing. Although is doesn't matter how far Burt travels from the Batcave, he will always be remembered for being that enthusiastic half of the dynamic duo.
En 1966, un acteur originaire de Walla Walla (Washington) du nom d’Adam West incarne dans une série télévisée le superhéros Batman, accompagné de son acolyte Burt Ward dans le rôle de Robin. La série est devenue légendaire grâce à ses costumes moulants, ses onomatopées qui sautent à l’écran pendant les combats récurrents avec les hommes de service des super-méchants, le téléphone rouge, et aussi, surtout, grâce à l’interprétation loufoque, sérieuse et décalée, d’un Batman détective qui résout des crimes grâce à sa technologie évoluée dans la Batcave. Bref, en enfilant le costume (moulant, rappelons-le) de Batman, Adam West a créé un personnage classique, intemporel, qui restera à jamais l’incarnation la plus populaire du célèbre justicier masqué (en tous cas, bien plus populaire que Val Kilmer).
Même s’il est connu principalement pour son rôle de Batman dans la série et le film du même nom vers la fin des années 1960, Adam West a joué dans plus d’une cinquantaine de films et de séries télévisées tout au long de sa carrière. Il prête actuellement sa voix au maire de Quahog, Adam West, dans la série animée Family Guy, et fait des apparitions récurrentes dans la série 30 Rock.
En 2012, Adam West obtiendra son étoile sur la célèbre Promenade de la gloire (Walk of Fame) d’Hollywood pour souligner son importante contribution aux milieux de la télévision et du cinéma.
In 1966, a young actor hailing from Walla Walla, Washington, by the name of Adam West would star in a televised series about ‘the Batman’ alongside his trusty sidekick Robin, played by the younger Burt Ward. The show became legendary, thanks to their distinct costumes, the word balloons which popped off the screen during a fight scene, the keen detective sense of the Caped Crusader, the marvellous Bat-gadgets and Batcave, the trademark red Bat-phone to alert Bruce Wayne of any wrongdoings happening in Gotham, and of course, the coolest car around, the Batmobile! The show was so popular that it spawned a feature film of the same name wherein the Dynamic Duo go up against the Joker, the Penguin, the Riddler and Catwoman! In short, Adam West created a timeless, iconic character with a rich legacy still adored by fans today.
Though internationally recognized as the first true on-screen Batman, Adam West has appeared in over 50 motion pictures and television series throughout his career. Fans today know Adam as the indescribable Mayor of Quahog, Mayor Adam West, on Family Guy as well as his recurring appearances on 30 Rock.
In 2012, Adam West will receive his celebrated star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to outline his unparalleled contributions to the world of television and cinema.
